VOLUNTEER MILESTONE ACHIEVED

The volunteers of the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island have reached an amazing milestone! Since the Aquarium expanded in 2001 and started accepting volunteers, these fantastic humans have contributed 100,000 lifetime hours! THIS GROUP HAS BEEN BUSY, from SCUBA diving to clean habitats to preparing animal diets, manning education carts, working with rehabilitating sea turtles, caring for our horticulture collection and supporting community science programs! Check out the breakdown of hours below:

Thank you to our hard-working volunteers for sparking wonder in our visitors and sharing your appreciation of the natural world with everyone who enters our doors.

FALL INTO FUN

Our Special Activities team doesn’t slow down in September! Aqua Tots is geared towards kids ages 2-5 and includes 45 minutes of stories, crafts and hands-on learning. Gyotaku “fish printing” introduces participants to the ancient art form while they create their own Gyotaku t-shirt to take home. Don’t forget our exciting Behind-the-Scenes tours! Check our Special Activities calendar to learn more.
